Royce Da 5’9″ & J. Cole Reminisce About Old Times in ‘Boblo Boat’ Video

Royce Da 5’9″ has been a busy man to kick off 2018. After the release of PRhyme 2, the Detroit native quickly shifted his focus to his upcoming seventh solo effort, Book of Ryan. On Friday, Royce dropped off the debut single “Boblo Boat,” which was assisted by J. Cole. Now, he returns with the track’s coinciding visual, directed by the Dreamville CEO himself.

The visual features a group of friends making their way to a local carnival for a night out on the town. Royce and Cole inject themselves into the clip, rapping in front of various popular amusement park rides and games. The video panels between the pair of star artists and the clique of kids gallivanting throughout the scene. Cedric The Entertainer makes a cameo, playing the role of the carnival’s security guard who falls asleep on duty.

On the 808 Ray- and Cool & Dre-produced record, Cole teases a story about smoking for the first time as a 6-year-old. “We had no Boblo boat but I could note those times is like a Bible quote/ BC, before cell phones, the first time I would smoke/ I was 6 years old, but that’s for another chapter/ That’s for another story, to God be the glory,” he rhymes.

Drake has just dropped a brand new music video for “Jumbotron Shit Poppin,” one of the tracks from his collaborative album with 21 Savage, Her Loss. The video montages footage of Drake dancing in a variety of luxurious locations, showcasing his smooth moves and stylish attire.

This isn’t the first time Drake has collaborated with other artists recently. Just a couple of weeks ago, he teamed up with dancehall superstar Popcaan for the music video of “We Caa Done,” a track that will appear on Popcaan’s upcoming album Great Is He. Drake will be releasing the album through his own record label, OVO Sound.

Her Loss, Drake’s collaboration with 21 Savage, was first announced last October in a video for their track “Jimmy Cooks.” The album went on to reach number one on the charts just a month later. However, the duo did face some legal issues during the release of the album when Vogue filed a lawsuit against them for copyright violation due to the use of fake magazines in their promotional materials. Despite the legal hiccup, Her Loss has been well-received by fans and critics alike.
